چکیده

Low silica zeolites are synthesized generally by sol-gel method in water. In this study, efforts were made to prepare low silica zeolites from sodium aluminate and sodium silicate, in the presence of alcohols, at 373 K under an atmospheric pressure. It was of our special interest to investigate how the addition of various alcohols into water affects the type of zeolites synthesized during crystallization process for different reaction times (2, 6, 24, 120 hours). Five different types of zeolites were identified during zeolite synthesis process: ZeoliteA, ZeoliteX, Sodalite, Na-Pc, and Analcime. The zeolites synthesized at designated reaction times were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 and H2O vapor adsorption/desorption. The results indicated that zeolite Na-Pc was preferentially synthesized in solely water solvent, whereas in solvent containing alcohols ZeoliteX and ZeoliteA appeared at the early stage of crystallization process, subsequently transforming to Analcime through intermediates of Sodalite and Na-Pc. It was presented that Na-Pc possessed peculiar surface characteristics, which were suggested from a stepwised H2O isotherm and hysteresis loop in N2 isotherm, both of which were not recognized on other types of zeolites synthesized in the present study. INTRODUCTION Zeolites contain crystalline tectoaluminosilicates that are constructed from TO4 tetrahedra (T=Si, Al). Each apical oxygen atom is shared between two adjacent tetrahedral giving a framework ratio of O/T=2 as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 Unit of TO4 (A center is ether Si or Al) s notation, the frameworks ratios of Si/Al are divided into three kin l nerally low silica zeolites are synthesized in a solvent of water. Investigation of the Use of Various Silica Source on NaX Zeolite Properties

Silicon and aluminum sources are most important reactants in the synthesis of zeolite. The use of the silicon source has an important effect on the crystallization of zeolites. Also, it can change the properties of the end product. This work reports the influence of three common commercial silica sources such as colloidal silica (Ludox AM-30), fumed silica and water glass on the crystallinity o...

Ca-modified MFI zeolite: A study on its synthesis, characterization and catalytic activity

Using hydrothermal synthesis process a series of Mobil Five (MFI) zeolites were synthesized with silica to alumina ratio (SAR) of 50, 100 and 200. The synthesized MFI zeolites were used to exchange with 0.5%, 1.0% and 2.0% Ca(NO3)2 solutions for modification of MFI zeolites to Ca-MFI zeolite. The formation of MFI zeolite phases was identified by XRD and FT-IR analysis. TGA...

Modification of Silica surface by Titanium sol synthesis and characterization

Hydrophobic silica titanium nanoparticles (STNPs) were successfully synthesized by the sol-gel process using liquid modification. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) studies were demonstrated the attachment of titanium on the silica surface. Titanium content enhanced the agglomeration of particles as shown in topography results. The N2 adsorption-desorption followed T...

A series of Fe3O4 supported on mesoporous FDU-12 silica systems were prepared by the hydrothermal conditions. The surface properties of the functionalized catalyst were analyzed by a series of characterization techniques like FTIR, XRD, N2 adsorption–desorption and TEM. XRD and adsorption–desorption analysis shows that the mesostructure of FDU silica remains intact after Fe3O4 modifications, wh...
